Hi Friends!  It is really great to connect with you and share a little about myself.

It will come as no surprise that I love to dance.  I love the discipline, the movement, the music, the creativity, the visceral reaction my whole body goes through when I get to perform.  I also love to teach and share with young dancers.  Being a part of their dance journeys has become the thing that is most near and dear to my heart.

I grew up in Northern Alberta and was a late starter to dance.  Did not take my first class until I was 10!  I will never forget putting on a bodysuit and tights for the first time for a beginner Jazz class on Saturday mornings.  I was not too sure about the uniform. But I was hooked fast!  Added lyrical the next year and then ballet and modern.  Because of this late start I had to play catch up for a lot of years until I felt like I could hold my own in the classes I was in.  I know in my heart that this struggle is one of the reasons I am a great teacher.  There was never a step that was a given for me so I have had to develop an analytical teachers eye from a young age to be able to keep up with some of my more naturally gifted teammates.

As I continued my training, I was lucky enough to have competed extensively as well as performed in several musicals such as Grease and The Buddy Holly Story. I was also a performer in AXIIS- a modern dance company.  Soon I felt pulled to teaching early on in my life and knew that that was where my strengths lived. I began teaching as much as I possibly could as well as continuing my own training and studies.  I completed all the requirements to become a fully registered and certified teacher with both The Royal Academy of Dance and ADAPT.  I also attended University for a Bachelor of Commerce.  My truly favorite place to be is in the studio working with my students.

My focus for many years now has been developing young dancers.  And I am incredibly proud to say that past students have been accepted into The National Ballet School, The Alberta Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet School, The Young Americans, Arts Umbrella, Intensive Training Program at Harbour Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center Professional Semester, and The Rockettes Summer Intensive.

As I have continued to develop my craft as a teacher, I have been exposed to so many different techniques to train the body AND the mind.  I have been so inspired and strongly believe that the combination of movement training and mental skills training is the way.  Therefore, I feel I offer a unique perspective of technique training and mental skills development.  I aim to create spaces that are challenging and enriching both for the body and the mind.
